Browser and VLC viewing are explained below. The BATC programme stream does not confirm off-air RF reception. Source selection details will be published only after the available controls and access rules have been verified.

Receiver status and reception history

Receiver Status shows searching, acquiring lock or DVB-S/DVB-S2 lock; the tuned frequency and symbol rate; stream/standby activity; and local display service health. Checks run approximately once per minute.

MER, modulation, FEC, BER and transmitted service/provider IDs are captured from the RX Pi when a fresh locked programme provides them. Awaiting means no current value is available.

Recent DATV Connections keeps the newest observed reception first, with a compact input label and available signal fields. Callsigns, when supplied by the transmitted service/provider text, will be labelled reported IDs; they are not authenticated identities. Short receptions between checks can be missed. Analogue reception and identification require separate commissioning.

Recent DATV transmissions records observed BATC publisher on/off changes. The first entry is a first observation, not a reconstructed start time. RF transmitter on/off monitoring remains unconfigured and is not inferred from streaming.

BATC previews play directly between the viewer and BATC; each website viewer does not cause the Station Server to relay another copy of the video.

Streaming

Streaming Out

The GB3FW video stream is sent to the BATC Live Video Streamer.

Watch GB3FW on BATC (HTML5), or connect directly using VLC Media Player.

Web browser viewing (HTML5)

For viewing in a web browser, use the HTML5 player. The BATC link above selects HTML5 automatically. If a player choice is shown, choose HTML5. No VLC installation is required for browser viewing; use VLC with the direct stream address below.

Desktop viewing

  1. Open VLC and choose Media → Open Network Stream → Network.
  2. Paste the address above into Please enter a network URL.
  3. Select Play. Allow a few seconds to connect and buffer.

Mobile viewing

  1. Open VLC on Android, iPhone or iPad and select Network.
  2. Choose Open Network Stream or New Stream, depending on your device and VLC version.

Supported devices

VLC Media Player is available for Windows, macOS, Ubuntu and other Linux distributions, Apple iOS and tvOS, Android, and selected game consoles.

Troubleshooting

Check the stream address and your Internet connection.

Stop and reopen the stream. If necessary, completely close and restart VLC.

Note

The RX Pi publishes the GB3FW BATC stream at 1280 × 720 (720p), 16:9, 25 fps, H.264 video with AAC audio. It shows a standby picture while waiting for a usable digital programme and selects received DATV when the receiver has stable lock. A working BATC stream does not prove that the RF transmitter is on.

Streaming In

Remote programme input to GB3FW is planned and is not yet commissioned. The BATC stream currently carries the local DATV receiver or its standby picture.

Future control or programme-input access will require SCART registration and the appropriate permission. Do not send unsolicited streams to the station. Details will be published after commissioning.

Battery banks and power monitoring

Battery Bank 1 comprises six Exide/GNB Marathon M12V105FT AGM VRLA batteries in parallel: 12 V / 600 Ah nominal (100 Ah per battery at the manufacturer’s 10-hour rating). Actual capacity depends on age and condition. Its percentage remains a generic AGM resting-voltage estimate; the manufacturer’s load-dependent discharge tables are not a resting state-of-charge curve. Battery Bank 2 is flooded lead-acid EFB: two Halfords HLB681 12 V / 115 Ah batteries in parallel, rated 230 Ah nominal, replacing the former lithium battery. Historical lithium measurements remain historical records.

Battery Bank 2 has the first current/power monitor. Battery Bank 1 awaits its own monitor. Signed current and power are measured values; Battery Bank 2 polarity is verified: positive current/power indicates charging and negative indicates discharging. Bank 2 uses a generic flooded-battery resting-voltage reference, not an HLB681-specific charge/discharge curve. Charging and load can distort the estimate. Voltage-based battery graphics are approximate guides and do not measure remaining capacity.

Wind and solar electrical monitors are not installed. Weather-station sunlight is not generated electrical power. The private daily system status email is scheduled for 20:00 UK time.
